Smoking, drinking, and drugs. Those 3 things all have something in common; they're incredibly stupid. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why people like smoking a cigarette, when it shortens your life by 11 minutes per cigarette, why people drink unnatural levels of alcohol, when you're more than likely to get alcohol poisoning, and liver damage, or like doing drugs, when some of them are illegal for a reason. If it's prescription drugs, I understand that, cause they were recommended by a healthcare pro. But why smoking? It's such an idiotic thing to do, especially around people like me, who, as I mention in my 'about' section of my blog, have a heart condition. Especially for those who have one.
Let's start off with smoking. I don't know how many of you reading this smoke at all, or not. But let's face facts; smoking is an idiotic thing to do. I mean. there are some seriously stupid things out there that others could be doing, but smoking is in my top 3 things never to do in life. I mentioned before that a single cigarette can shorten your life by 11 minutes. That might not sound like a lot, but let's say (hypothetically, mind you) that you smoked 6 cigarettes every day, day in, day out. Each day, that's a total of 1 hour, and 6 minutes of your life...GONE! Poof! Bye bye, precious minutes of your life. See you again never. The Simpsons characters, Patty and Selma are seen doing it constantly, and I don't understand how they haven't succumb to the effects of smoking, like so many others around the world.
Then there's the drinking problem we seem to have. As human beings, we can't seen to stop consuming vast amounts of alcohol, for whatever reason. Maybe it's to drown our sorrows, to make us feel better, even though it just makes us moodier. Maybe it's because we like getting drunk. Or maybe, it's because we like the intoxicating drink so much, we like to party hard, and get drunk in the process. By the time morning comes around, we get the worst hangover, and loud noises bother us so much, because of it. I don't think I'll ever understand why we like killing our brain cells, and harming our liver so much, with liquor. Abusive fathers are a great example as to why we shouldn't overindulge on the stuff. Again, Simpsons character, Homer Simpson, is the most perfect example as to what can happen if you drink too much of the happy juice he calls beer.
Oh, and don't think for a second, I forgot about drugs. I'm saving the worst for last. People can snort, smoke, inject, ir ingest drugs, and I don't understand why they do it. Drugs can have a lasting effect on all of us in similar, or different ways. Some things drugs can do to a person are as followed:
- Make a person see things that aren't really there
- Make a person mellow, psychotic, paranoid, or all 3
- Make someone do something they wouldn't normally do
- etc, etc.
Naturally, as I said before, I don't take drugs, unless they're medically prescribed by a doctor. Then I kinda have to take them. Obviously. There are many examples of people who do silly things, or dangerous things when they're on drugs. You can probably imagine what they are, so I'll leave that kind of stuff to your imagination. Still, if you're wondering about the examples I'd use here. There's 2 I'd point out, but, amazingly enough, not from The Simpsons, but form 2 different franchises. Jesse Pinkman, from the TV show, Breaking Bad, and Trevor Phillips, from the video game Grand Theft Auto V. When Trevor Phillips isn't smoking Meth, he's got his 'consummate professional', Chef (real name unknown) to make it, so Trevor can sell it. Jesse Pinkman's a bit the same, except he works with a different person; his old high school teacher, Walter White, AKA Heisenberg. They make drugs, to sell to others, at first, to pay for Walter's cancer treatments, then for his family's future nest egg. Both do stupid things to get them, making them some pretty bad people. Namely Trevor, because of his unpredictably psychotic nature. One minute, he's your friend, the next, he might try and kill you.
