Happy Father's Day/Birthday

Writer: TOF SurvivorTOF Survivor

Today is certainly going to be an interesting day. One event we have today, as all in Australia would know (but many Americans might find a little weird) is Fathers Day, the day where we celebrate having a dad that helps us get to those important job interviews, learn how to drive, take us to the movies, and all those other things a dad would do, especially loving their kid or kids (in my family's case) unconditionally. At the same time though, I'm celebrating an 80th Birthday in the family; My nanna. She's taken us (my sisters, mother and I) all to the movies, to the pool for her big day out, spoiled us rotten with presents on our birthdays and for christmas, and in return, we've loved her unconditionally for always having that fun loving streak about her, almost never letting anything get her down.

So today, I celebrate my dad's Fathers Day by giving him pancakes for breakfast, made by my family and I, and going to see a new (at the time) movie with him. Maybe in the future, it has come out on DVD, but the movie I'm going to see with him is a Quentin Tarantino film, 'Once Upon a time...In Hollywood'.

In addition, I've also gotten him a movie he said he liked watching a fair bit, 'Halloween' (The original one, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, and done by John Carpenter). Just so you all know, I only saw that DVD once when I bought it. When I went to look for it again, it wasn't there. Maybe like Pennywise the dancing clown (from Stephen King's 'IT' book, and movies), it'll appear again in about 30 years.

And for my Nanna, something to remember her 80th by; a rose bush thing, because roses are pretty, and they my nanna likes gardening. Well, suffice to say, they loved it. Better yet, I also got my nanna a gift certificate (with my sisters) to a spa place for her to relax. Hey, life is stressful, and we all need to take some time to relax occasionally.

I can only hope that they both enjoy a fantastic day, because for one, they deserve it, and 2, because they're both fantastic people. Yeah, yeah, some might call me a sap, and say 'that's cheesy', but to be fair, I don't say anything if I don't mean it about someone...unless it's in a joking manner.

Anyway, Happy Birthday to my Nanna, and a Happy Fathers day to my dad
