I've always hated injustice. Not the two videogames, Injustice Gods among us. No, I always hated injustice in the world, where, you can always try and do the right thing, but someone, or something always comes and then screws the whole thing up. Some injustices can come as small as schoolyard bullying, some, as big as someone being arrested and jailed for a crime they didn't commit. But to me, the biggest injustice, is with these naysaying politicians who deny that global warming is an issue, and that they should do anything about it. Last night (at the time of writing this) I watched a story about these kids who, for one day a week, would intentionally miss a day of school, to protest outside of a political office. And the reason they were doing this? Because the government, all around the world, sits on their respective arses, twiddling their thumbs, worrying about minor issues like tax, and petty crimes such as the DUI charges people get given.
Even our current Prime Minister, Scott Morrison (again, at the time of writing this) said that kids should be going to school, instead of this activism. That to me sounds like the funniest thing in the world, because he thinks that kids should be in school, instead of protesting an issue that world leaders refuse to acknowledge. Like with racism, you can deny it exists in today's world all you want, but it's not going away any time soon. But, unlike racism, and instead like curable diseases, this can be stopped if we all start to do something about it. Or, more importantly, as soon as every world leader does something about it.
Now, let's not forget as well, that Donald Trump, America's current President, decided on behalf of all of America, that they would leave the Paris Climate Accord. To those who don't have a clue, or not much of an idea of what I'm talking about, basically, this agreement says that each country who has agreed to the Paris Climate accord, will do their best to reduce the greenhouse gasses released into our atmosphere, reporting on any emissions produced, and trying to reduce the constantly rising temperatures in the world today. Trump, being the idiot he is, decided 'Nope. This whole thing sounds like too much work for me, and climate change is fake news', and got America out of that accord for good. Or (and this is extremely unlikely to happen any time soon), he decided that Climate Change is real, he'll get America to go back to the agreement, and help to save the world.
There's also an island in the South Pacific, the Maldives that, because of the rising sea levels, is slowly but surely going under water. With the ice caps melting, the people of the Maldives island are being pushed back further and further, until eventually...well, let's just say they won't be around anymore.
Even as I write these words, I can't help but think that the sea level is rising some more. 3.2 mm per year, bearing in mind a small margin of error, all because of us as people being wasteful, companies not finding more sustainable ways to power our homes, or cars, and politicians not acknowledging that climate change exists. Sure, kids could miss out on their education. But, consider this; They only miss out on one of the five days that these kids attend school, and if they protested on the weekend, it wouldn't have that much of an impact as protesting on a weekday would. So, I implore you to do the same; protest outside of a politicians office one day a week, and don't stop until this has been resolved.
